How to get to Berlin City from the Airport

Berlin has two main airports: Tegel (TXL) and Schönefeld (SXF). The transportation options from each airport may vary slightly, so it’s important to plan ahead based on which airport you will be arriving at.

From Tegel Airport, the most convenient and efficient way to get to the city center is by taking the bus. The TXL bus is a direct service that runs frequently and takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the city center. The bus stops at various locations throughout the city, including Alexanderplatz, Brandenburg Gate, and Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Tickets can be purchased at the bus stop or from the driver.

From Schönefeld Airport, the most popular and affordable option is to take the S-Bahn train. The S9 and S45 lines connect the airport to the city center and run every 10-20 minutes. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes, and the train stops at major transportation hubs such as Ostbahnhof, Alexanderplatz, and Berlin Hauptbahnhof. Tickets can be purchased at the airport’s ticket machines or at the station.

For those who prefer a more private and direct option, taxis and ridesharing services are readily available at both airports. However, the cost can be significantly higher than public transportation.

Where to Stay in Berlin

One such city that has long been on my bucket list is Berlin, the bustling capital of Germany. As I embarked on my journey to this incredible city, I couldn’t contain my excitement and anticipation for the many experiences that lay ahead. From the remnants of the Berlin Wall to the modern skyscrapers, I knew that Berlin would offer a unique blend of history and modernity, showcasing a city that has reinvented itself over the years while still preserving its storied past.

1.My Stay at Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin:

During my stay at Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin, I was truly captivated by the hotel’s grandeur and its illustrious history. The moment I stepped into the opulent lobby, I felt as if I had been transported to a bygone era of glamour and sophistication. The attention to detail in the décor was evident, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere made me feel right at home.

My room was beautifully appointed, featuring a plush king-sized bed, a comfortable seating area, and a luxurious marble bathroom with a rainfall shower and separate bathtub. The tasteful furnishings and rich fabrics added a touch of elegance to the space, while the large windows offered stunning views of the city.

The hotel’s amenities were equally impressive, with a sumptuous spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and several exceptional dining options, including a two Michelin-starred restaurant. I particularly enjoyed the lavish breakfast buffet, which offered a wide selection of fresh and delicious options to start my day on a high note.

The location of the hotel couldn’t have been better for exploring Berlin. Not only was it adjacent to the Brandenburg Gate, but it was also within walking distance of the Reichstag, the Holocaust Memorial, and the bustling Unter den Linden boulevard. The excellent public transportation options nearby made it easy for me to venture further afield to discover the city’s diverse neighborhoods and attractions.

The eclectic mix of modern and industrial design elements, combined with lush greenery and quirky touches, created a welcoming and inspiring environment. The hotel’s staff were genuinely friendly and eager to help, providing excellent recommendations for local attractions, dining options, and nightlife.

One of the highlights of the hotel was the rooftop bar and restaurant, the Monkey Bar, which offered stunning panoramic views of the city and the adjacent Berlin Zoological Garden. The menu boasted a diverse selection of inventive cocktails and mouthwatering dishes made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The vibrant atmosphere, coupled with the breathtaking views, made for a truly unforgettable evening.

The guest rooms at the 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin were equally impressive, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, comfortable beds, and stylish furnishings. Each room was thoughtfully designed with modern amenities, such as a Bluetooth speaker, a Nespresso machine, and free Wi-Fi, to make guests feel right at home.

In addition to the fantastic location near the Berlin Zoological Garden, the hotel is also within walking distance of popular shopping destinations like Kurfürstendamm and Bikini Berlin. With excellent public transportation links nearby, guests can easily explore the city’s many attractions and vibrant neighborhoods.

3.Circus Hotel:

Located in the vibrant Mitte district, near Rosenthaler Platz, the Circus Hotel is a lovely and inviting place to stay. With room prices starting at around €80 per night, it offers an affordable and comfortable option for travelers who wish to experience the city’s dynamic atmosphere.

As soon as I walked into the hotel, I was struck by its warm and welcoming ambience. The modern, tasteful decor exuded a sense of calm and relaxation, making it easy to feel at home. The guest rooms were stylishly designed and well-equipped with amenities, such as flat-screen TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, and cozy bedding to ensure a restful night’s sleep.

One aspect of the Circus Hotel that I found particularly admirable was its commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. The hotel has implemented a range of initiatives, including energy-saving measures, waste reduction programs, and the use of organic and locally-sourced products, to minimize its environmental impact.

The hotel’s staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, offering valuable insights into the best places to visit, dine, and explore in the surrounding area. Their genuine enthusiasm and passion for the city made it easy to discover hidden gems and experience Berlin like a local.

The hotel’s location in the heart of Mitte district is ideal for those who want to be close to some of Berlin’s most popular attractions, such as the Museum Island, Alexanderplatz, and the Berlin Wall Memorial. The nearby Rosenthaler Platz offers a variety of trendy cafes, bars, and restaurants, as well as excellent public transportation links for easy access to other parts of the city.

4.Wombats City Hostel Berlin:

Although I didn’t stay there personally, I was able to get a sense of its atmosphere and offerings. Located near Alexanderplatz, one of Berlin’s central transportation hubs, this hostel is an ideal base for exploring the city without breaking the bank. With prices starting from around €20 per night for a dorm bed, it caters to those seeking affordable accommodations.

Upon entering the hostel, I was immediately struck by its upbeat and friendly vibe. The common areas were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, providing a welcoming environment for guests to relax and socialize. The guest rooms, including both dormitories and private options, were also clean and comfortable, offering a cozy retreat after a day of sightseeing.

Wombats City Hostel Berlin offers a range of useful amenities to cater to the needs of budget travelers. A fully-equipped guest kitchen is available for those who prefer to prepare their own meals, while laundry facilities ensure that guests can keep their belongings fresh and clean throughout their stay. The hostel also features a lively bar, which serves as a popular gathering spot for guests to mingle, share travel stories, and make new friends.

The hostel’s location near Alexanderplatz is particularly advantageous for travelers who want easy access to Berlin’s public transportation network. With numerous tram, bus, and train lines converging at Alexanderplatz, guests can quickly reach popular attractions such as the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, and the East Side Gallery.

The city’s resilience and ability to reinvent itself while honoring its past had left a profound impact on me. I was grateful for the opportunity to immerse myself in this dynamic and diverse metropolis and knew that I would carry a piece of Berlin with me wherever I went.
