Walking through its massive decks and narrow corridors, I could almost hear the echoes of sailors who once called it home. One of the best things to do here is simply stroll down Front Street and Water Street, where you can admire well-preserved antebellum homes, quaint shops, and art galleries. As I wandered, I couldn’t help but imagine what life was like here during the Civil War, when Wilmington was a major port for the Confederate states. There’s a palpable sense of history here, especially at places like Thalian Hall, a historic theater built in 1858 that still hosts performances today.
